I have a Macbook from 2008 that is stuck with one of the "big cats". Can I use it to download a newer MacOS to install in another machine?

This Macbook is so old in fact it cannot work with any of the Dosdude1 patchers. The Intel graphics chipset is GMA X3100 which the patcher does not support. It's running Lion right now so at least it has the App Store. Is it possible to download just an OS on this Macbook so I can copy it over to USB media? Can I at least use it as a source to Hackintosh another machine?
