Is it Possible to Switch Between OS on The Same Device?

I am not knowledgeable at all but am trying to learn so i can figure out my best course of action before i attempt to install mac OS on my PC.

I already have windows 11 installed so i wanted to know: If I install macOS onto a computer that already has windows installed (if this is even possible) is there a way to switch back and forth between the different OS? Or is a VM my only option?

I know VM talk isn’t allowed in this subreddit but like i said I’m not knowledgeable yet and I’m actually trying to AVOID using a VM without losing access to my windows.
