I see many posts of 'success' with older versions of Sonoma, but I don't see a lot of comments on installation of the latest 14.4 version of Sonoma from an update point of view. (Yes, they're out there, I know). But I thought it might be helpful to have a quick post summarizing a few things I found for my hacks:
- During the update process. disable the AirportItlwm kext that you have, and plan to update to the latest MacOS 14.4 compatible AirportItlwm later, once you are running 14.4. This fixes reboot/crash issues because MacOS 14.4 can't boot up with the older versions of airportitlwm.
- Change (in config.plist of your boot EFI) Misc->Security->SecureBootModel to DISABLED. This fixes an issue where MacOS 14.4 upgrade (or new install) will start to install but will constantly reboot after the first (install-driven) reboot.
- If you aren't offered MacOS updates via SystemSettings/General/SoftwareUpdate, download and install RestrictEvents.kext and then add "revpatch=sbvmm" to your boot args in NVRAM section of config.plist.
