Troubleshooting Slow Desktop Access After Upgrading to Sonoma on MacBook Pro

Hackintosh Guide: Fixing Slow Desktop Access Issue After Upgrading to Sonoma on MacBook Pro

If you're experiencing slow desktop access after upgrading to Sonoma on your 2015 MacBook Pro, follow these troubleshooting steps to potentially resolve the issue:

  1. Reset SMC and NVRAM:

    • Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) and Non-Volatile Random-Access Memory (NVRAM) on your MacBook Pro.
    • To reset SMC, shut down your MacBook Pro, then press and hold the Shift + Control + Option + Power keys simultaneously for 10 seconds, then release all keys and turn on your MacBook Pro.
    • To reset NVRAM, restart your MacBook Pro and immediately press and hold the Command + Option + P + R keys simultaneously until you hear the startup chime twice, then release the keys.
  2. Check Startup Items:

    • Check the list of startup items in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items.
    • Remove any unnecessary startup items that may be causing delays during the boot process.
  3. Disk Utility Check:

    • Use Disk Utility to check the health and integrity of your macOS installation disk.
    • Open Disk Utility from Applications > Utilities, select your startup disk, and click on First Aid to run disk repair.
  4. Check System Preferences:

    • Review System Preferences settings, particularly those related to startup applications, energy saver preferences, and background processes.
    • Disable any unnecessary background processes or resource-intensive applications that may be causing slowdowns.
  5. Check Activity Monitor:

    • Open Activity Monitor (located in Applications > Utilities) and check for any processes or applications consuming excessive CPU or memory resources.
    • Quit or force quit any resource-heavy processes that may be contributing to the slowdown.
  6. Update macOS:

    • Check for any available macOS updates and install them to ensure your system is up to date with the latest bug fixes and performance improvements.
  7. Hardware Diagnostics:

    • Perform hardware diagnostics on your MacBook Pro to check for any underlying hardware issues that may be affecting performance.
    • Restart your MacBook Pro and hold down the D key during startup to initiate Apple Diagnostics or Apple Hardware Test.
  8. Reinstall macOS:

    • If the issue persists, consider reinstalling macOS Sonoma on your MacBook Pro to rule out any software corruption or conflicts.

By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the slow desktop access issue after upgrading to Sonoma on your 2015 MacBook Pro. If the issue persists, consider seeking further assistance from Apple Support or online forums dedicated to macOS troubleshooting.

maybe an issue? I don't know, HELP.

sorry I have a question. i just updated to sonoma on my 2015 macbook pro 15 inch. i updated (after updating opencore) normally from settings. Sonoma seems to work well, however when I turn on the Mac (it doesn't happen with reboots) after entering the password it takes a long time for it to access the desktop. Does anyone know if this is a solvable problem?
