I have a stash of macpro 6,1’s and a desk setup that I usually have two of them sitting on. I have a kvm switch so I can share monitor, keyboard , mouse between them.i have all the cables organized and velcroed together in separate bundles for each trashcan, so it’s easy to change them around. Tonight I had taken both of them off the desk and was changing ram and ssd configs on them. Well…….i put the first unit back and it had a new empty ssd in it. So I powered it on with my OCLP sequoia usb plugged in and nothing happened. LED’s on the back came on, but no boot, I heard the chime and the fan came on, but that was it ! Took it back apart, checked to make sure the ram was in correctly, made sure the ssd was seated, plugged everything back in, and nothing happened change ? Popped the cover off again, to triple check, tried to do a pram/vram reset and nothing I did made any difference. Pretty frustrated about now.
Cracked a beer and was ready to hang it up for the night !
WELL FFS, I never checked the kvm switch , and I had the wires plugged in for the side of the switch that wasn’t selected !
That’s a couple hours I will never get back.
Time for another beer 🙃
