Keyboard Backlight not working on ASUS VivoBook X412DA
Hello everyone,
I’ve successfully booted macOS Tahoe on my AMD-based laptop and managed to fix almost all post-install issues. However, I’m stuck on getting the keyboard backlight to work.
Here are my hardware specs and current setup :
Laptop: ASUS VivoBook 14 (X412DA)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3200U (with Radeon Vega 3 Graphics via NootedRed)
Bootloader: OpenCore 1.0.7
OS: macOS Tahoe 26.5
What I've tried / Current Kexts : I am currently using AsusSMC.kext (along with VirtualSMC) to handle laptop features.
Standard hotkeys (brightness, volume) are working, but the backlight toggle keys do nothing, and the backlight option does appear in System Settings but It's a standard macOS settings I guess.
Has anyone successfully mapped the ATK/ASUS backlight methods for AMD laptops on newer macOS versions ? Do I need a specific ACPI patch (SSDT-ATKD or SSDT-KBLC) or a DSDT rename to get the AsusSMC kext to properly attach to the backlight device?
Any guidance on which ACPI paths to look for in my DSDT would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
