Hello all!
I have a mac mini 2009 (I think it's a 3,1) which came with Snow Leopard. I was able to install Monterey via OCLP (worked, but wasn't quite smooth) and tested out a few other things (couple versions of linux, purely for comparison) and then reverted back to SL via DVD.
I then tried ventura and was able to get through most of the install, but it failed during an update step (wish I got a screenshot) and wouldn't complete. I got this far twice. It was suggested I try a pram reset, but things haven't gone well since then.
Using the ventura installer (via usb), or the monterey installer (the old usb that did work previously), I am not able to get into the installer at all. I tried resuming the old ventura install, or started a new one (EFI->install mac os) and tried with verbose mode to no avail. In all cases, it boots to a black screen with the apple logo, and a progress bar that never moves from 0%.
In verbose mode, I don't see any kernel panics or "waiting for x" errors - it just sits there indefinitely. Safe mode doesn't seem to do anything different.
For reference, this one has 8gb of ram and the internal drive is an old 60gb ssd. Both worked flawlessly with Linux Mint and SL so I don't think it's a hardware issue.
Any suggestions? I would love to get this back up and running. Thanks in advance!
