General Update Question

So, in general, are the updates to the OS that Apple pushes safe to install on your hackintosh? For example there is this latest 10.13 Supplemental Update that supposedly improves installer robustness and security, but will it brick my hackintosh or cause other problems? I know the answer is probably 'it depends', but I am looking for a general 'mostly no it won't be a problem' or a 'mostly yes it will be a problem don't do it unless you want a big headache'.
