Working Sierra Hackintosh suddenly failing boot - prohibitory sign. High Sierra clean install attempt issues.

I had a working hackintosh with macOS Sierra for a few months. It was installed using unibeast/multibeast. After seeing multiple successful upgrades to High Sierra, I decided to attempt an upgrade myself.

I made a complete disk backup/clone with clonezilla. I don't know what went wrong with the process; it seemed error free. However, both the original and the copy will not boot now. I get the prohibitory sign.

I figured that I'm back to square one. I have a working MBP with High Sierra that I am using to try to start the hackintosh installation process from scratch, following the guide by /u/corpnewt

But I've already run into two new problems.

  1. I can't find the download for macOS Sierra on the App Store in my High Sierra MBP. It's not even in the "purchased" section which has El Capitan as the most recent previous OS.

  2. Attempting the guide with High Sierra instead, the clover installation keeps failing. I think this might be related to my MBP's disk being case-sensitive, but I'm not sure.

How do proceed from here? Is there a way to salvage my old Sierra hackintosh? If not, where can I find an updated guide for a High Sierra clean install?
