My hackintosh is currently Sierra (10.12.6), and I'd like to upgrade to High Sierra. I've followed the instructions here, and done quite a lot of troubleshooting with no success.
As per that guide, I'm using the official Apple installer from the App Store. I've tried disabling nearly everything I can think of. I've updated to the latest version of Clover.
I've tried both with and without the recommended kexts:
- Lilu.kext
- AppleALC.kext
- USBInjectAll.kext
- XHCI-200-series-injector.kext
For clarity, contents of Drive/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/other
- FakeSMC.kext
- Lilu.kext
- Lilu.kext.dSYM
- USBInjectAll.kext
- XHCI-200-series-injector.kext
- XHCI-x99-injector.kext
I've updated FakeSMC. All this and no joy. My Sierra install still works fine, but booting to the High Sierra install from the MacOS Install partition in the Clover bootloader results in "Still waiting for root device" followed by the dreaded no smoking sign.
System Specs:
- X58A-UD3R
- Intel Core i7
- 20 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
- Dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 2470MB
- Realtek RTL 8168E
Drives:
- WDC WD50EZRX-00MVLB1 (5TB) (EFI, MacOS and Clover boot)
- ST3000DM001-1ER166 (3TB)
- WDC WD1502FAEX-007BA0 (1.5TB)
- WDC WD10EARS-00Y5B1 (1TB) (Windows 10)
I know that, in the past, I've had to remove one of my graphics cards and disconnect all hard drives except the one I wish to install on, but that was always using methods outside the expected upgrade process for a Macintosh. I can certainly try that, but I see a lot of people who have tried it and gotten nowhere.
I am using a DSDT, with the following set in Clover Configurator:
- AddDTGP
- FixHPET
- FixIPIC
- FixHDA
- AppleHDA kext patches
- Booter Config: 0x28
- CsrActiveConfig: 0x3
- Working SMBIOS values
- Boot Flags: dart=0, kext-dev-mode=1, -v
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
