Part selection

Hey guys,

I am currently planning on building my second Hackintosh this year. Atm I'm making some plans, thinking about which parts to use and so on.

My main question is which CPU to use. My current machine runs on an i5 4690 with a Gtx960 and 16gb of ddr3 ram. While it is ok for Photoshop and Lightroom, it just won't do the trick in Davinci Resolve real time editing.

While Intel based machines are surely easier to set up, I'm tempted by doing a Ryzen or Threadripper build. Or try out Intel Xeon (like in the new iMac pro)?

Any experience on how well let's say the i7 8700, the ryzen 1700x a threadripper 1950x and the Xeon w 8core compare?

Is AMDs r580 any good? Or better for with a gtx 1080?
