Hi,
My hardware:
Intel i5 4670k
Gigabyte Z87-HD3
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD
ASUS GTX 760
NOTE: This SSD is a new, blank one that I haven't formatted or done anything to. I previously had a 2TB HDD on the same system and had partitioned it to run Windows and Mac OSX. Both those installations are now not working so I have disconnected that HDD.
Here are the steps I've taken on my MacBook Air running High Sierra 10.13.1
1) Took a SanDisk Cruzer Force 32GB USB stick and erased using disk utility
Name: 'USB'
Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
GUID Partition Map
2) Using Unibeast 8.2.0
UEFI Boot Mode
High Sierra
Did not select the graphics option
3) On BIOS (Version: F7, BIOS Date: 01/20/2014, BIOS ID: 8A02AG0H)
Load optimized defaults - DONE
Disable VT-d - Running 'k' series Intel CPU so no need for this
CFG Lock - Couldn't find it
Disable Secure Boot Mode - (Secure Boot State: Disabled, Secure Boot: Disabled, Secure Boot Mode: Standard)
OS Type - Couldn't find it. Instead, I have 'Windows 8 Features' which was set to 'Other OS'.
IO Serial Port - Couldn't find it. Instead, I have 'Serial Port A' which was enabled.
Disable USB 3.0 - Couldn't find the option. I don't know if this is needed for my hardware.
4) Inserted USB stick into PC and hit F12 to enter screen where I select boot device.
- I see 5 options:
i) Mac OS X - I don't know if this is from my previous install on my 2TB HDD but I have disabled that HDD
ii) DVD drive
iii) Samsung SSD
iv) SanDisk - Note that this is now called 'SanDisk' and not 'USB' which I named it earlier. If I plug this USB stick into my MacBook Air, the USB stick is called 'Install macOS High Sierra'
v) Enter Setup
On clicking either i) Mac OS X or ii) SanDisk, it goes to a black screen with the text 'Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key'
I meddled around with the BIOS settings and found that if I changed 'Boot Mode Selection' from 'UEFI and Legacy' to 'UEFI only' then I am able to restart the machine, not press F12 or anything and it goes straight to the clover screen. Here, when I select 'Boot OS X Install from Install macOS High Sierra' it goes to a black screen with the Apple logo, then a progress bar appears then the screen just goes off (Not black but off. The LED indicator on the monitor goes from white to yellow. The PC is still on though). Nothing happens for a long time and I'm forced to restart.
