So I had an Asus nVidia GTX1060 6GB before this Sapphire and it worked well but not perfectly. I'd get screen tears, stutters and the occasional crash so I decided to go with something 'native' and I bought this card. I installed it, tried to boot into the already installed/functional High Sierra and after Clover the Apple logo would show and when the loading bar reached halfway the monitor would go black and it would stay like that indefinitely.
I reinstalled the OS fresh, booted into HS, used Multibeast to install the EFI bootloader, the Vodoo sound drivers, etc. and then on reboot it started doing the same. I'm now reinstalling HS again and this time I'll try to install Lilu and Whatevergreen kexts as well.
My questions are: 1. If this happens again, is there anything else I can do other than reinstall the OS from scratch? 2. Shouldn't this GPU work out of the box? 3. Would it be a better idea to try installing Sierra instead?
