So as the title states, I was quite underwhelmed by the iMac update, and couldn't defend a purchase of one for the little power they actually offer. My 15" MacBook Pro is from mid 2012, and I would like it to be alive to enjoy its retirement, meaning I would like to just use it for a portable writing tool instead of the everything machine it has been until now.
My goal is to build something equal to/better than the current offerings from Apple, and obviously at a much smaller price point. Also I have gleaned form my lurking here, that future-proofing is a thing and would like to aim in that direction with my build. The heavy use of it would be from gaming. I don't play FPSs or any eSport related games, but would like to pull good-looking games for a while.
However, I have never built a pc, let alone a hackintosh, and the whole prospect of doing so is rather daunting. I have messing around on pcpartpicker following some advice from another post that advised to use Intel CPUs, AMD GPUs and other stuff and I did my best to abide by that. I also tried to find items with 4-5 stars and plenty of reviews as I figured they would be tried and tested components. However, again, I have never built a pc and/or hackintosh, and I have almost no clue as to how well they will work together, or at all.
So here is the list of stuff I considered. Please feel free to rip it apart and suggest better alternatives and what would work better for my build. I would like to keep it around the same price point, but I can push up a little if needed. Also, I think the whole clean white build is really sexy so yeah, also that. Also I use amazon.de since it is closer to my country. Anyway, here it is:
