Hey guys, long time lurker that you helped a while back. I just bought a Sapphire RX580 because of its supposed great compatibility and after installing, I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to work.
To start, specs are: I7-7700k Gigabyte Z270-HD3 Motherboard RX580 (brand new) OSX High Sierra
I've been using an old AMD card for a while with no issues whatsoever. Pretty sure I installed something a while back to maximize its potential but as far as I remember it was pretty plug-and-play. I bought this new one and sold the old one before installing (probably a mistake). Every time I boot up, it'll load up beneath the Apple about halfway, here a little pop on my speakers, and the screen goes black. I know there's kexts to install to help with this, but I'm not sure how to do that when I can't even reach my desktop whatsoever.
I've also seen to try a DVI plug instead of HDMI - could this work in my case? Gotta snag one from work to try out.
Is there a simple solution to this?
My last ditch effort is to go buy an SSD to do a fresh install of OSX on (I think I could do it way cleaner second time around), transfer all my files, and then just wipe the old drive and use it for media storage. Am I jumping too soon? Do I have a better option?
