Successful install of High Sierra on Gigabyte Aorus B360 + i5-8400 + GTX 1060

Successful Hackintosh install of High Sierra (10.13.6 build 17G66) on the following components:

Relevant Parts:

Motherboard: Gigabyte B360 Aorus Gaming 3 Wifi

CPU: Intel i5-8400

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM

SSD: Crucial MX500 1TB

I bought the parts to build a Windows machine and then was curious about converting to a dual-boot Hackintosh, at which point I found these brilliant guides:

u/littlegtplr post: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/8px0ku/success_first_hackintosh_i58500b360gtx1060_6gb/

vanilla install guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/68p1e2/ramblings_of_a_hackintosher_a_sorta_brief_vanilla/

For the referenced hardware these are the steps I followed for a successful install:

  1. Go to u/littlegtplr Github: https://github.com/littlegtplr/Hackintosh-Clover-folder-for-Coffee-Lake-builds and download repo for reference.
  2. Create bootable USB installer following the vanilla guide referenced above.
  3. Configure your USB w/ Clover as the vanilla guide shows, using the u/littlegtplr repo as a reference for what drivers to install during the "customize" part. You should see the new EFI mounted on your desktop after you run Clover on your USB.
  4. Don't worry about a crazy custom config.plist config like the vanilla guide says, simply replace your new EFI config.plist with the one from the u/littlegtplr repo, and then generate all your new serials using Clover Configurator.
  5. Copy and past all the kexts from the u/littlegtplr repo into your kexts folder (using the same folder structure obviously).
  6. Now, configure your Motherboard BIOS to the settings linked here: https://hackintosher.com/guides/high-sierra-install-full-guide/
  7. Plug in your bootable USB and boot from there. DO NOT PLUG TO USB 3.0!!! This caused me 2 hrs of headaches trying to figure out what was failing (I'm stupid, I know). Make sure you are using a USB 2.0 port.
  8. In the High Sierra install screen, select Disk Utility and format your destination drive using AFPS. I had to use AFPS for some reason as when I selected Mac OS Journaled it kept failing, saying there wasn't enough space.
  9. Follow install process as normal.
  10. After install (and the several restarts accompanying it) Mac OS should finally boot. Your display will probably look terrible as you should have disabled integrated graphics in BIOS settings and Nvidia drivers have not been installed yet
  11. On your new system, install Clover Configurator and go to "Mount EFI" and mount both the EFI from your bootable installer and the EFI on your new system drive. Now copy the EFI folder from the USB's EFI drive, and paste it into your system EFI drive. You will get an alert saying "EFI folder already exists", and select MERGE. This will enable you to boot without the USB. Restart your system.
  12. Install Nvidia Drivers using this super simple tool: https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update . You don't have to mess with SIP or anything in config.plist to get these drivers working (many of the guides suggest this), simply run the script in terminal that is referenced in the repo, restart and you should be good to go.

That's all I did and everything is working great, feels just like my iMac, with WIFI + Bluetooth being the exception, but I have ordered the Broadcom part that seems to be popular here and that u/littlegtpl suggested: BCM943602CS (PCIE adapted).

Of course HUGE SHOUTOUT TO u/littlegtplr for the amazing post and all the linked info, I would have been screwed without it.
