Adobe Application Performance/Stability on High Sierra / X299 / 980ti

Hello all!

I am on High Sierra with a 980TI, i7 7820x, MSI X299 SLI Plus. I am having no issues with most processor intensive apps - Final Cut, Resolve, Maya, and countless others work flawlessly. Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, and Illustrator all run properly.

However, when I try to use Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects, there are a lot of issues. Regardless of software, OpenCL, metal, or cuda, premiere pro will not output a preview and After Effects runs CPU only. I've reinstalled the apps several times and reset my preferences, but the issue persists.

To make things more annoying, the computer completely freezes after a few minutes of AE or Premiere and needs to be unplugged. It freezes before a system log can be written.

This issue cannot be reproduced in Windows.

Are there any other Adobe users with similar hardware who are having a better experience?

Is it worth it to go for a Vega GPU for added stability or is the problem likely to be elsewhere?
