Help!
Sorry for the longread, but I reckon my problem is a complex trainwreck...
My specs: i7 3.6 intel core MSI Z97-G43 Gaming EVGA GeForce GTX 780 10.11.6 OSX through Clover.
2TB fusion drive with Clover EFI booted OSX 10.11.6 and 2TB with Windows 10 on it.
Clover boot-args originally had: kext-dev-mode=1 rootless=0
The system was fine for quite some time, until one day I opened an OpenGL game, and it started visually glitching and then rebooted me out, booting again or giving me a Missing Bluetooth Controller booting in -v. Booting without kexts or caches (or both) gives Missing Bluetooth Controller or black screens.
System was running OSX graphic drivers by the way (don’t remember if it was intended or not) and I tried switching them to Nvidia web drivers to no avail. When the system booted after I selected the drivers and rebooted - it was still stuck to OSX drivers.
After another Missing Bluetooth Transport, in single user verbose mode, I did the commands listed there, fsck -fy, mount -uw, reboot, the system booted but started glitching again, rebooting.
Tried Windows, it starts, runs for some time, reboots.
And then nothing was booting. Windows gets me their new blue screen, and OSX sometimes gives me Missing Bluetooth Transport, sometimes just black screens (used two, used one, HDMI, DVI, no difference).
Tried using cd /System/Library/Extensions mkdir intel_back mv AppleIntelHD* AppleIntelF* intel_back/ touch ../Extensions
Nothing worked, there were no files with AppleIntelHD* and AppleIntelF* in the names. Added GeForce* NVD* to the command, and OSX finally booted but with GPU detected as NVidia Chip Model 8Mb.
Googled the link “Solving NVIDIA Driver Install Problems” and did the following (basically, instructions for "Problem 6"):
Checked that the most recent NVidia Web Drivers are installed. They are for my system. Installed Lilu and WhateverGreen kexts with KextBeast 2.0.2. Installed Clover with EmuVariableUefi-64 and the RC scripts as said in the link above. Now clover has nvda_drv=1 into its’ boot-args.
This worked once, until everything glitched again several minutes into the first boot after the whole driver and kext installs and the whole thing rebooted itself. Now I can only boot OSX (Windows looks dead) in safe mode with GPU as NVidia Chip Model 8Mb. Although Nvidia Web Drivers are selected as the ones system are using.
Please advise.
Anything I could install or change on the software or BIOS part? Could this be a GPU dying? Could this be GPU overheating? (although doesn’t look that way, tried some apps on OSX, the temperature was in mid 40*C). I also have no idea why Windows installation also got broken.
TL;DR: OSX started visually glitching and rebooting, then it started giving me Missing Bluetooth Transport error in -v, tried to install Web Drivers and recommended kexts, now system doesn't recognise my GPU and only boots in safe mode.
