Hey all, I’m hoping to get a new computer for my audio and video work. I’m curious if it’s worth the effort to build one for what I want it to do, as I have no experience with building PCs or hackintosh, or if I’m better off with a Mac mini.
Most importantly, it needs to run Logic Pro X and Pro Tools. Video editing will happen much less often, but I would be using Premiere CS6 and maybe Final Cut Pro. I’d also be using photoshop and other adobe apps every once in a while. I’d like to be able to run two monitors, 4K if possible but I’m fine with 1080p. I would likely be using a thunderbolt audio interface so I’d need that kind of connectivity. Bluetooth would be nice but not required. If possible, dual booting with windows for gaming would be great but that’s a stretch goal for sure.
Has anyone built a computer for similar programs? Is this build practical, or am I asking for trouble here? Thanks in advance for anyone who can offer some help or suggestions.
