Hey, I'm planning on building a Z390 Mini-ITX hackintosh, and I am contemplating on which motherboard to buy. I have read success stories with each board.
Also, I heard someone mention that MSI boards are generally to be avoided when building a hackintosh. Is there a specific reason for this, or is it just audio/ethernet chip that MSI tends to put on their boards for which no macOS drivers/kexts are available?
What are your thoughts? Which of the following 3 motherboards would you recommend for such a build? Any Pros and Cons to each? Let me know, I'd like to hear.
- Asus ROG Strix Z390-I Gaming
- Gigabyte Aorus I Z390 Pro Wifi
- MSI MPG Z390I Gaming Edge AC
Some other specs I had in mind for the build:
- Intel Core i9-9900K Boxed
- HyperX Fury RGB HX436C17FB3AK2/32
- Samsung 860 QVO 1TB
- Not sure which GPU yet, might go Nvidia for Windows and just use the UHD630 for macOS. Or go with an AMD 5700 XT.
PS. Actually I had a silly question for the case I would go with an Nvidia GPU:
Would the USB-C port on the motherboard (Asus & Gigabyte only) work as a TB3-port. Would it then be possible to connect an eGPU to that port with a macOS compatible GPU for use with Final Cut Pro X?
Thanks!
