How do I remove or at least lower the volume of the boot chime?

I've seen some mod to add it, but none to remove it? I don't mind if I can lower the volume, but for now I have borderline heart attack when it boots! I tried

sudo nvram SystemAudioVolume=%80 

Without any luck.
