Mac users have been able to send and receive iMessages from laptop or desktop for a good while.
I know that there are ways to use Chrome Remote Connect or another Remote Desktop program to “iMessage from a computer running windows.” That’s technically still sending the messages from the device you’re remotely connected to, which is running some version of an Apple OS.
Sprint allows customers to chat with agents via iMessage, and when I was chatting with an agent I couldn’t help but ask what kind of device they use to chat with customers. I was thinking iMac, MacBook or at least an iPad. Nope, they’re using devices that are running Windows to send and receive the iMessages with customers. They are obviously able to do this with permission from Apple to use the servers required for iMessage. Is this something we will be seeing released to the public in the near future, or is the ability to iMessage from Windows something Apple feels will impact sales of IMac and MacBook devices?
This may be the wrong subreddit to post this, but having previously done a hackintosh in the past, it’s the only place I could think of to ask such a question.
*Update*
Apparently Apple Business Chat is what allows them to do this, and there is a third party client engagement software involved.
