Used the dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Desktop-Guide like a map (including the prebuilt SSDTs)
Wildly successful first build, beyond stoked with how this went except for one serious elusive issue: unpredictable, infrequent seemingly spontaneous reboots. I would assume it’s a kernel panic, but there’s no graytext or message on reboot. There’s nothing written to the panic logs (or let’s say, I can’t find anything useful). I can’t find guidance on how to approach troubleshooting this, so that’s the purpose of this post. What do I even look at to get good info? Seems to happen no matter what’s running, not necessarily under load. Possibly it’s more frequent with media apps like VLC and Ableton Live idling or playing— however possibly not when viewing YouTube video in a browser or playing music from Music.app— it’s so infrequent as to be difficult to nail down. Stress tests like Heaven and prime95 do not cause a reboot. Sometimes it goes a whole day without reboot. Sometimes it happens a few times a day. Here’s the weird thing, or maybe a clue: at first it was happening several times an hour, but as I mapped my USB ports and finalized my EFI setup and video configuration, the frequency gradually went down. It has not completely abated. (Almost 10yrs on Reddit and this is my first post. Huh. OK.) edit: corrected flair [link] [comments] |
