Hello there.
So I own this laptop and I already managed to install Big Sur in it earlier this year, making everything work...more or less.
The most important issues were: - Misalignment between the internal and the external batteries (it just doesn't seem to manage both well, removing the external one it just acts as it doesn't have a battery inserted); - The WiFi speed was damn low. Using it under WiFi was a pain; - I have the feeling that swapping the hard disk with an SSD would make it significantly faster (on Windows it's not as snappy as it was some years ago as well, even when completely empty); - Using the touchpad is another painful thing. It's a buttonless one and macOS is just unable to understand when I'm left or right clicking, making it damn tricky to use.
So here's the question: could it be worth to replace the wireless card, the touchpad, put an SSD and reinstall everything on that old but reliable notebook? It would cost me around 150€ to swap everything and make it almost perfect. I would use it for a bit of coding (I'm currently just learning) and to mirror my iPhone when I'm working on or using my laptop (with Windows I have to keep the phone on the desk and take it everytime I have to answer a call or send a picture, and Apple Services on Windows are pure crap).
