Best way to install 12.xx?

Hello, I have a working Big Sur and looking to upgrade/ reinstall to latest version of 12.4 . If I have to format the drive no problem with that. But my question is, can I use the Big Sur EFI and use it to install the 12.4? I really want to do edits on the config.plist at this moment!
