Is it safe to update from 13.0 to 13.5 or to Sonoma 14 Beta 4

I have Ventura 13.0 running on my NUC8 under proxmox. I have not updated since the install....but Ventura 13.5 is available for updating. I'm also being offered Sonoma 14 Beta 4. This is a test/learn installation....not production, but I don't want to trash it by putting on an update that isn't compatible. Is it (relatively) safe to update to 13.5...... Would updating to Sonoma Beta be high risk?
