I've been dealing with a blank screen issue on a MacOS Monterey OCLP-patched (1.2.0, I believe) 2009 Macbook Pro. I updated it through the System Settings (probably a no-no, now that I've read deeper) a few hours ago and have seen strange boot behavior that keeps the machine from entering a state where I can login.
If I press the power button, I hear the DVD drive cycle and the chime plays. I do not see an Apple logo. If I give the machine enough time, eventually, the keyboard backlight turns on. The screen remains blank. If I do a 10-second power button press to hard restart, the screen flashes what appears to be the login or Apple logo screens (depending on how long I've waited) and shuts down.
What can be done, if anything, to recover the machine?
