Hello everyone, tought I’d share a solution for people who struggle with this isue. Yesterday I updated my MBP14,2 2017 from Sonoma 14.3.1 to 14.4. I updated the system with oclp version 1.3.0 installed.
The update successfully installed and I was able to login, but once booted I lost control of my trackpad and keyboard. Solution: I used a wired external mouse and keyboard (Magic Mouse / Keyboard weren’t working since bluetooth was disabled) to regain control of the computer.
Had to play around a bit with entering my password as the input language from the keyboard was different than the mac settings and you can’t see what’s being typed. Solution: boot in Recovery mode and try finding a setting where you can see what’s being typed. If it’s different than your keyboard input write down which keys need to be pressed to form your password correctly.
This did work but I had no bluetooth or wifi network connection: icons not appearing in task bar and settings unresponsive. Solution: Now if you have an iPhone create a personal hotspot and connect your phone with usb to your macbook. It should recognise the internet connectivity and you’ll be able to update oclp to version 1.4.1.
After this, install opencore and do the post-install root patch. After the reboot everything should be working fine again. If you don’t have an iPhone you can download oclp 1.4.1 from another computer and flash the installer on a usb drive. You can then run the installer (from safe mode if you can’t boot normally). I hope this helps someone!
