I updated my late-2014 iMac to Sonoma. Now, Safari has become nearly unusable. It just... stalls. In any given session, it will stop responding to mouse clicks or loading pages. Meanwhile, I can launch Firefox and it's working fine.
The question is WTF Safari is doing. It and its associated entries show zero CPU usage in Activity Monitor and top. I don't know how to go any further to explore it.
