Two SSD's with different OS's

Hello Guys

I have two SSD's for my macbook. I'd like to test OCLP first on one of my ssd's. Now im running catalina on my main ssd. If i swap it out with the second ssd and install oclp there with a newer system than catalina, will i be able to jsut change thessd's back and boot my macbook into catalina or will it affect it somehow. Meaning if i have catalina on ssd 1 and lets say sonoma with oclp on ssd two will i be able to start on sonoma when ssd2 is put in and just change the ssd back to ssd 1 and start up into catalina without them affecting each others. remember there the two ssds are not used at the same time. its one or the other.

Cause i have a 2015 macbook pro and id like to test one of the newer versions with oclp first on another ssd bevore i upgrade my main ssd to a newer system. but im afraid id would make some changes which prevent me from booting on my main ssd.
