iMac 17,1 - "Skylake" Quad Core 3.2 GHz i5 - 8Gb Ram
I first did a clean install of Sequoia - made a USB on another intel iMac. Had troubles with that installation too. When I eventually got it working the installation was ridiculously slow. Totally unusable. Like minutes for Safari to start. etc. I kept trying to use it over several days, thinking that maybe spotlight indexing etc might be making it slow for a while.
I installed the after-boot patches - even tried doing it a second time.
So now I am trying again, but with Ventura (thinking maybe Sequoia was too much?). Again - made a USB installer using OCLP. Wiped the internal Harddrive during install - now installing and it's been about five hours now - still stuck on "About 16 minutes remaining".
I also used disk utility on the installer USB to erase and run First Aid on the internal HDD, everything came back fine.
Any ideas what might be going wrong?
