Is it okay to update my 2013 MBP running Ventura (13.7.5) to Sequioa or Sonoma the standard MacOS way?

I've asked before and done a lot of googling, but had very mixed answers, so I'm hoping the more descriptive title will give me a clearer answer.

My 2013 MacBook Pro (8GB/250GB, 2.6GHz i5, 13") is currently running MacOS Ventura through OCLP. it's dual booted, so I have the option to run Catalina as well, but Ventura does run perfectly well. What I'm wondering is, can I use the standard method to update to MacOS 14/15? as in, I just click "Upgrade Now" and then run boot patches in OCLP after the update? I dont really care about battery life (it's already bad, it cant really get worse), and not worried about general speed, as far older machines run it fine.

Anyway, I appreciate the help!
