Accidentally updated to Tahoe, tried the DMG file recovery method, no success. Help?

So this is my very first macbook, a 2015 Macbook Air, and I’ve literally had it for 3 days. I tried to use opencore legacy patcher to upgrade my macOS and accidentally ended upgrading to Tahoe not knowing what it would do. Yes, I know, very stupid, I tend to mess things like this up. I watched a few videos on how to do everything and wasn’t aware Tahoe would prevent me from logging in. When I tried the internet recovery method to reset my password, there were no profiles selectable to reset my password. I tried creating a bootable usb installer for Monterey 12 since it’s what the device originally came with, but obviously that didn’t work since the OS is now updated to Tahoe. Any advice on next steps? I don’t normally do things like this with software, so I wasn’t even sure what to google as my next step. I was trying to avoid posting in here because I’m sure I’ll get flamed for making such a dumb mistake, but I genuinely thought I had all of the information I needed. Can anyone offer some guidance?
