Repurposing an iMac (1311) for HomeKit Dashboard?

Hi everyone! Just got an old iMac as an upcycling project. Was thinking about doing this. As per my understanding I’d need Mojave for this to be a thing, right? Have any of you guys done this? any known caveats? TIA
