How to Configure and Map RAM in OpenCore config.plist

How to Configure RAM in OpenCore config.plist

Sometimes macOS does not map all RAM slots correctly, or displays memory errors (especially on laptops or AMD builds). You can manually map RAM in your bootloader config.

How to configure RAM:

  1. Enable Custom Memory: Open your config.plist using a proper plist editor. Navigate to PlatformInfoMemory. Set CustomMemory to true.
  2. Configure Devices: Fill in the Devices array with your RAM module details: size, speed, manufacturer, serial number, and slot position.
  3. Enable XMP: Ensure XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) is enabled in your BIOS/UEFI settings for maximum memory performance.
  4. Verify: Boot macOS and check About This MacMemory to confirm all modules are properly recognized and clocked.
