Hardware: HP 8740p notebook, fully loaded, HP advanced docking station. IvyBridge, Intel 4000. Supposedly the MPBs of that generation(2013) with that hardware could have three displays(maybe the LVDS counted as one).
Works perfect with 3 external monitors in Ubuntu and Windows. There are 3 DPs, one on the PC, 2 on the station. With an SSD this PC is about the same as a new MB Air performance wise. For under $130 this setup is a great deal. I also have 1600X900. I did pay $75 to bump it to 16GB.
So Far: Works fine in OSX Sierra with 2 monitors. 3 rd monitor is kinda detected but seems to switch right off.
Tried: Edited Capri Buffer and inserted various combinations of hex codes. Does not really make a difference, I get two monitors with even the base one output configuration. Looked at IOReg, seems there is a third slot but it is never used.
I know this is a long shot but does anyone have any suggestions.
