Ryzen High Sierra Finally Working!

TL;DR I wanted to dual boot on my PC so I found this guide for my AMD processor. It was long, long process with many face palms but I got it working and it's great. :).

Before I start, let me state my specs.

  • CPU- Ryzen 1400 @ 3.2Ghz.
  • GPU- GTX 1060 6GB.
  • RAM- 16 GB of DDR4 @ 2400 Mhz.
  • Storage- 250 GB Samsung Evo (Windows installation). 700 GB of a western digital blue partition for Windows storage. 300GB partition for Mac OS X.
  • Mobo- MSI B350 Tomahawk.

Let me state some nags first of all. I'm still trying to get used to the inverted scrolling as it's the opposite of windows so hopefully that will come soon. Also, I haven't found a way to boot without the USB containing clover installed in my PC so if you know what to do that would be great. SADLY most games I own no longer work on Mac OS X but I mainly got it for Unity, programming and school work. My mic is extremely quiet and last but not least... I can't use the windows Ctrl-C/V since its Alt-C/V but if I do that it just creates these symbols alt + [ç=c. √=v].

The installing process was sort of hard a nightmare since I haven't done anything like this before and I almost gave up countless times but to come back to the tutorial the following day, reformat EVERYTHING in windows and start all over. If you're wondering I used this tutorial and it's really in-depth about each step and explains what you should be looking for, as well as tells you what to do with potential errors Tutorial here. I'm not even sure if you're reading up to this so if you are you're awesome. Anyways...

I followed the rest of the tutorial, set-up the kexts like Voodoo and the Video one and installed the Nvidia web drivers. Finally I installed discord, chrome, unity and steam before I got off for the night.

All in all, I'm happy with the results and if I think about doing this in the future I'll make sure it has a god damn intel CPU...
