Another Report Claims Apple Has Slashed HomePod Orders

Following a report from Bloomberg yesterday, the China Times claims Apple has slashed orders for its HomePod smart speaker due to slower than expected sales.

The original forecast for the second quarter shipment of the supply chain was about 500,000 units per month, but it was reduced to 200,000 units in March. It is expected that shipments will be made in the second quarter in a single month. 200,000 units or less.

While it's difficult to verify the accuracy of these reports, Apple's HomePod does come with a high price tag ($349) and substantially fewer smart features than its rivals. We expect Apple to continually add to its functionality as time goes on, making the HomePod a more attractive purchase.
