Hi folks; this is in reference to the question I posted awhile back here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/c5i5my/nvidia_amd_and_1012_upgrade_ordercautions/
I have very successfully replaced my EFI with an updated, much lighter one (computer seems to boot faster, too) that is identical to the Vanilla Guide for Skylake in the sidebar except for the following two settings:
-
I had to put in the USB 15 port limit patch for 10.12.x on the Kernel and Kext Patches screen of Clover Configurator else USB was all confused.
-
I ticked NvidiaWeb under System Parameters, because I like to see what I'm doing.
This worked beautifully, until I tried to take the next step: Having it use the IGPU so that I can remove the Nvidia card and do the Mojave upgrade (Full specs on the last post, but this is an i7 6700K CPU, so it's an HD530 IGPU).
Here's what I did:
-
Turned off the "NvidiaWeb" flag in config.plist (BTW, I am doing this off of a USB stick; my real boot drive still has the original config)
-
Uninstalled the Nvidia Web Driver from macOS.
-
Restarted, used BIOS to enable IGPU, and set it as the first thing to display.
-
Reboot (using the USB EFI, of course) with the monitor set to the HDMI port.
Everything seems to be going swimmingly, all the way through verbose output from Clover, but at the time when it should actually display the Apple logo and then the login screen, it just goes black. I have to connect with Screen Sharing from my Macbook to see the screen so I can safely shut down.
What I've tried:
-
Checked to make sure that all the IGPU fixup stuff that the Vanilla Guide puts in Properties is there... It's there.
-
Added Intel injection to "Graphics," although supposedly that should just happen automatically.
I shouldn't need any other kext than WhateverGreen anymore, right?
I don't actually have any further ideas. I know I've used the IGPU before, but that was like 3 EFIs ago, and the first 2 were ones people just gave me (and the first one wasn't even right for my hardware). Now that I have a much better idea about how all this works...
I'm missing something... any ideas as to what?
