So I have an external eGPU Thunderbolt enclosure that i badly want to connect a 10Gbefiber ethernet adapter to. I tried originally posting this to the Mac sub but didnt get a single bite. I’m reposting in a slightly modified form to this sub because i know ya’ll are techies at the deepest level and part of getting a Hackintosh working is fuckin with ‘em Kexts. Ya’ll basically doing that kext hacking game all-day-long! :P
I have a couple Broadcom BCM57810’s as well as a few Mellonix ConnectX-3 in both dual and single port configuration (non-pro versions). Its my understanding that there is a company out there rebranding the connectx-3's and there is a driver for them but you must have the pro version... Damn. I don't have pro. Bummer.
So I'm looking at getting the Broadcom card working as there are some posts online indicating that there is a driver out there that will work with many of the Broadcom cards. from what ive read i need to use a kext injection utility to spoof the device id and inject that in with a fakepci kext driver. I'm an advanced user .,.. 15+ years in IT but this is pushing my limits.
Heres some of the posts i was reading on how people have made it happen but i just dont quite get what i need to do here. Kexts have always been like Voodo magic to me. I’m a Mac guy now, thru and thru… But my roots are from a Windows turned Mac background and Kexts IMO are odd little beasts. Even apple thinks so with recent versions apparently not supporting Kexts… but wait, they do sorta.. if you turn of SIP. I dunno. It’s confusing to me. Hoping someone better versed in Mac Drivers can help me interpret what to do here from this article.
So.. ya.. Can anyone tell me in plain simple English, how to get a driver working please? Broadcom or ConnectX. Thx.
Much appreciated. . Stay safe ya'll . Cheers!
