I tried out OCLP this weekend on my i5 8 gb 2015 11" MBA. I was running Ubuntu JellyJam but decided to try OCLP Sonoma to get better trackpad, bluetooth and battery support. Installation was a breeze and Sonoma worked...ok. Keyword being OK. Battery life did not get better since I have a P31 2TB SK Hynik NVME. Unfortuantely I was unable to install SSDPMEnabler on it like I did on monterey to get the battery life more normal.
However, what made me switch back to Linux was the speed. Sonoma worked ok overall but it definitely felt like I was using a modern OS on an old computer. I started thinking I was crazy as I remebered this macbook air Flying in the past. I don't do anything intense just mainly web browsing, web apps but everything felt so choppy and slow. I've switched back to Noble Numbat and this old computer feels modern again. Really surprised by the results since my 2015 15" MBP with OCLP Sonoma feels very snappy and fast. I guess the 16 gb ram, and 4 cores CPU makes a huge difference.
