Introduction:
If you're facing issues with the display and booting on your Samsung NP550P5C-S02IN after setting up a Hackintosh using dortania.github.io guide, this guide will help you troubleshoot and resolve these issues.
Issue 1: Display Problems
External Display Not Working:
- Check if the necessary display drivers are installed in your EFI configuration. Ensure that your Hackintosh configuration includes support for external displays.
- Verify your cable connections and try using different ports on your laptop and monitor to rule out hardware issues.
- Consider experimenting with different display-related settings in your EFI configuration to see if it resolves the issue.
Internal Display Grey Tint:
- This issue might be related to incorrect display settings or drivers. Review your EFI configuration and ensure that the correct display drivers are installed.
- Adjust display settings within macOS to see if you can improve the color accuracy or remove the grey tint.
Issue 2: Booting from Internal HDD
- EFI Partition Not Recognized:
- Ensure that you have properly mounted the EFI partition of your internal HDD before copying the EFI folder to it. You can use EFI Mounter tool or Terminal commands to mount the EFI partition.
- Double-check the EFI folder structure and contents to make sure everything is copied correctly. Sometimes, missing or misplaced files can prevent the EFI partition from being recognized.
- Check if your BIOS settings are correctly configured to boot from the internal HDD. Ensure that the UEFI boot mode is enabled and the internal HDD is set as the primary boot device.
Additional Tips:
- Backup EFI Configuration: Before making any changes, it's advisable to backup your existing EFI configuration to avoid any data loss or system instability.
- Community Support: Seek help from the Hackintosh community forums or Discord servers for assistance with specific issues related to your laptop model.
- Experiment with Different EFI Configurations: Sometimes, tweaking EFI settings or trying different configurations can help resolve display and boot issues.
Conclusion:
By following the steps outlined in this guide and experimenting with different configurations, you can troubleshoot and resolve display and boot issues on your Samsung NP550P5C-S02IN Hackintosh. Remember to proceed with caution and seek help from the community if needed. With persistence and careful troubleshooting, you can achieve a stable and functional Hackintosh setup on your laptop. Good luck!
Need help for Samsung NP550P5C-S02IN Display
I own an old Samsung NP550P5C-S02IN for which I followed dortania.github.io and created an EFI.
I have two issues, would be great if someone can help!
The first issue:
The external display does not work for me, not sure why and the internal display has a grey tint. I can control the brightness but the max brightness is not enough to view the display for long hours.
Tried searching but could not find a solution.
Second Issue:
I feel doing something wrong, I am able to boot via an external HDD but when I copy the EFI to my internal HDD EFI partition, somehow the partition does not show up in the UEFI boot menu or the BIOS.
