using multi room speakers with Apple Music on sequoia

want to confirm this is possible and not just my setup is wonky.

I have a BCM4360NG card in my dell 5570 running sequoia. wifi and bluetooth works perfectly, even ethernet. Airdrop, handoff, continuity etc. all works fine.

in Apple Music I can select multiple speakers at once in my network, but there's no sound and the song paused.

in the control center menu, I can however airplay to either speakers. but it's only one speaker, not multi speaker at once.

does this have something to do with airplay 2? or Apple Music DRM?
