Most painless Thunderbolt build for music production?

I'm on a 5 year old hackintosh right now which still performs pretty well but I want thunderbolt to get the most out of some new audio interfaces.

I did some searching and have seen some builds using the Gigabyte - GA-Z170X-Designare motherboard. Searching around it still seems like kind of a pain to get up and running. Are there any better or other thunderbolt motherboards to use right now? It's also kind of expensive at $260.
