Trouble with Unibeast - Can't create a Boot Disk!

Hey guys,

I had a hackintosh many years ago, but so much time has passed I'm a newb now. Since I don't have a MAC, I was able to get a MAC VM installed. The USB Stick I'm using is 16GB.

I had a copy of El Capitan that I put in "applications" but Unibeast wasn't seeing it. I was unable to download it from the app store, but I was able to download "High Sierra". After downloading that, Unibeast allowed me to select it, but when it's about to write to the USB stick, I get "There was an error creating your Unibeast drive: Couldn't create Installer"

Some google searches on this points to a bad/incorrect format. I have followed several guids and I'm confident I'm formatting it right. I also tried to format via terminal with "diskutil eraseDisk HFS+ USB GPT /dev/disk3".

I also deleted "Install macOS High Sierra" twice from Applications and downloaded again. When I check the size on that, It's only 24.4MB. Is this normal? Does Unibeast copy the image from somewhere else? With not having a real MAC, do I have any other options?

Thanks for any help

  • Mac VM OS version: 10.11
  • Unibeast version: 8.0.0
