Audio problems with a Z370 AORUS Gaming 5 (in 10.13 AND Windows 10). Looking for a solution -- maybe a hardware one.

Hi all,

I've had a vanilla install working for about a month and a half now. (Still meaning to write up a Success! post but I'm still tinkering.) Audio works but doesn't sound great -- there is intermittent popping and the mic input sounds pretty poor.

Before I start tinkering with different Hackintosh options, however, I'm having major audio problems in Windows, as well. Sound works well but I keep having microphone problems (I lose the mic input when I open Discord and Dota 2, and it sounds awful if I can get it working). I've tried reinstalling drivers, etc., no luck.

My first question: Can dual booting, or Clover specifically, cause audio problems in Windows?

Second: What are your favorite hardware sound solutions, be they PCIe or USB?

Third, I suppose: I don't know much about USB DAC. The Gaming 5 has two USB DAC-Up 2 ports. Is there any issue with using these with macOS? It looks like it's entirely BIOS controlled and it has to do with power.

Thanks in advance!
