Recently I learned that ESXi support PCI passthrough. I thought of throwing esxi on my tower, then setting up a VM with OSX on it. Because of the compatibility layer of ESXi I figured I'd have a better chance of getting OSX running on "weird" hardware. I can could then pass the GPU through to the VM. Overall it would allow me to take snapshots before updating and easy rollback if the update fails.
Thoughts? I realize boot times would be higher, but I never shutdown my PC to begin with, so it's not that big of a deal for me.
