Doug Field, the former head of Telsa Model 3 production, is back at Apple and working on Project Titan, according to Daring Fireball's John Gruber. Apple spokesperson Tom Neumayr confirmed that Field had returned to the company but did not reveal what project he was working on.Field was a VP of Mac hardware engineering at Apple before leaving for Telsa in 2013. In April, Musk took over production of the Model 3 himself but still described Field as "one of the world's most talented engineering execs".
Gruber suggests that Field's hire by Apple could mean the company is still interested in making actual vehicles, despite reports that have claimed the project is abandoned.
