Anyone here switch from 1080ti to a lower-end AMD card (e.g., RX580). Did App/UI performance increase?

This may be a question that's been beaten with a hammer, but was wondering if anyone has recent experience with this. The lack of NVIDIA Web Drivers for Mojave, paired with general optimization for AMD has led me to seriously consider replacing the 1080ti for a weaker, but more compatible RX580.

Performance:

The key area that would push me towards this shift is the performance. Is OS X optimized that heavily for AMD cards that 580 Nitro+ would lead to performance increases?

Workload:

My workload is primarily web-development with a bit of Final Cut Pro X thrown into the mix... I had purchased the 1080ti for Machine Learning (I don't game). These days, the main feature for OS X that I appreciate is continuity that OS X offers between my iPad, iPhone and MBP. Additionally, having an Apple Laptop, I'm pretty heavily invested in the Apple software ecosystem (e.g., Coda, Quiver, etc...)

If I go through with this switch, I may put the 1080ti in an eGPU or a second PC so that I could use it under Windows (Although there's no way an eGPU platform would provide full x16 bandwidth)... Any suggestions?

Would appreciate your insights!
