Lenovo T430 stuck at "Installation is in progress calculating time remaining" for 3 hours

I am trying to install Mojave on my Lenovo Thinkpad T430. I am able to get through the initial installer but after the reboot and booting from the ssd I am stuck with this screen for the last 3 hours. The reason I haven't stopped it is because the hard drive indicator has been flashing constantly but this seems very long.

I5 3320m

8gb 1600 ram

Samsung 840 Evo ssd
